Scintacor’s fluorescing fibre optic dust caps provides a simple, passive way to identify active optical fibres carrying visible or invisible laser radiation. By integrating specialist phosphor materials into the dust cap, the product visibly glows when exposed to IR or UV laser light—instantly warning users that a fibre is live and helping to prevent accidental eye injury.
Modern fibre optic systems often carry laser light that is invisible to the human eye. As a result, personnel may unknowingly remove a dust cap from a live fibre, exposing themselves to hazardous radiation. Traditional visual checks offer no protection when the laser wavelength cannot be seen.
Using our deep expertise in phosphor applications, Scintacor can deliver a dust cap that converts invisible laser light into a visible warning signal. When the fibre is active, the cap fluoresces, providing immediate confirmation that laser radiation is present—without the need for power, electronics, or additional tools.
Fluorescing fibre optic dust caps can be supplied for a range of connector formats and wavelength requirements. Please contact Scintacor to discuss specific connector types, operating wavelengths, or custom safety solutions
Scintacor specialises in phosphor technologies that “make the invisible visible.” With decades of expertise in laser detection materials and safety solutions, our fluorescing fibre optic dust caps deliver intuitive safety without complicated equipment or procedures — reducing risk and helping maintain compliance in critical network environments.
